Reaching Clovis from the Valley's two main highways
Clovis does not sit on a major interstate, and that shapes how we book carriers here. CA-99 runs through Fresno a few miles west, and CA-41 cuts north toward Yosemite and south toward the coast. CA-168 connects Clovis to both and then climbs into the mountains toward Shaver Lake. Most long-haul auto carriers run CA-99 between Sacramento and Bakersfield, so a Clovis pickup means a short detour on Herndon or Shaw Avenue, which drivers accept because the roads are wide and the stop is quick.
Our office keeps a list of carriers who work the Valley regularly rather than relying on trucks passing through once. That matters in Clovis more than in Los Angeles or the Bay Area, where any carrier will do. A dedicated Valley hauler means your pickup date holds and the rate reflects the real distance, not a premium for being off the interstate.
Valley heat, tule fog and the Grapevine
Clovis weather is a factor in how we ship. From June through September, afternoon temperatures in the Fresno area regularly top 100 degrees. A car on an open carrier is safe in that heat, but interiors get hot and anything with aging rubber or a weak battery should be noted when you book. Enclosed transport is worth considering for show cars or vehicles with fresh paint heading south through Bakersfield in midsummer.
Winter brings tule fog, which can shut down visibility on CA-99 for hours in the early morning. Drivers wait it out, and we build that possibility into the pickup window so you are not caught off guard. Any car leaving Clovis for Southern California also crosses the Grapevine on I-5 over the Tejon Pass, which closes a few times each winter for snow. These delays are brief and we keep you updated by text.
Who is shipping cars out of Clovis
Clovis draws families from the Bay Area and Southern California for its schools and housing costs, and many of them ship a second vehicle rather than caravan two cars up CA-99 or over Pacheco Pass. Students at Fresno State and Clovis Community College ship cars in from home at the start of each semester and back out in May. Retirees who split the year between Clovis and Arizona send a car to Scottsdale or Tucson each fall.
There is also a solid agricultural and trade base here. Ranchers in the foothills, contractors in the Shepherd Avenue corridor and dealers along the Clovis auto rows on Shaw and Herndon all move trucks, SUVs and inventory on our carriers. Oversized pickups and work trucks are routine; the quote accounts for the extra deck space they occupy.
Driveway, cul-de-sac or meeting point
Newer Clovis subdivisions such as Harlan Ranch, Loma Vista and the neighborhoods around Buchanan High School have wide streets and generous driveways, and a carrier can usually load right at the house. Older sections near Old Town and Tarpey Village have narrower streets and mature trees, so the driver may ask to meet on Clovis Avenue or in a shopping center lot along Shaw. Either way the service is door-to-door and the price is the same.
For addresses up CA-168 in Prather, Auberry or Shaver Lake, be upfront about the road. Steep grades and tight mountain turns are not practical for a loaded 75-foot rig. We will arrange a meeting point in Clovis or at the base of the grade, or send a smaller truck for an additional charge if you need pickup at the property.
What goes into a Clovis auto transport quote
Your instant quote is built from the lane, mileage, vehicle dimensions and weight, open versus enclosed, operability, and the season. Clovis to Los Angeles or the Bay Area is a short, frequent run with plenty of trucks. Clovis to the Pacific Northwest or Texas uses the same Valley carriers, who then connect to I-5 or I-40, so pricing follows actual miles. Harvest season and late summer, when families move before school starts, are the tightest times for capacity in the Valley.
The number you see is the number you pay. Carrier cargo insurance, pickup and delivery at the curb, and our coordination are all included. We do not add fuel surcharges or broker fees after the fact, and we confirm the carrier's active authority and insurance before any vehicle is loaded in Clovis.
From booking to delivery
Enter the pickup ZIP, delivery ZIP, vehicle and preferred date and the quote appears immediately. After you book, we assign a vetted carrier and the driver contacts you with a pickup window, usually a half-day range. At pickup, you and the driver inspect the car together and note its condition on the bill of lading. Keys, a quarter tank of gas and no loose items inside are all that is needed.
You can follow the truck by phone or text until delivery. At the other end, the vehicle is inspected again against the pickup report before you sign. Cars arriving in Clovis come in on CA-99 from either direction or over CA-41 from the coast, and we deliver to homes, dealer lots and the Fresno State area alike.
